Salem's Newest Tradition: Hidden Gold Coins!

Every weekend in October, Georgia and her dad hide gold coins around Salem, Massachusetts. It's the Witch City's most coveted souvenir because they can't be bought, you have to find one!

Since 2019, Georgia's illustrations have been used to mint Salem coins. They are available in three different styles: antique bronze, antique nickel, and gold. The first two can be purchased while supplies last. The coins are minted in very limited quantities (between 35-50 pieces in antique bronze and 100 pieces in antique nickel). The shiny gold-plated version is limited to just 15 minted each year, and if you want to add one to your collection, you'll need to wait for riddles to be released at noon each Saturday and Sunday in October via her Instagram page. Then, whoever decodes the riddle the fastest and races to the correct location to find it, gets to keep it!

Georgia's annual gold coin hunt in Salem is sponsored by the Peabody Essex Museum.
