Salem's Newest Tradition: Hidden Gold Coins!

Every weekend in October, Georgia and her dad hide gold coins around Salem, Massachusetts. It's the Witch City's most coveted souvenir because they can't be bought, you have to find one!

Since 2019, Georgia's illustrations have been used to mint Salem coins. They are available in three different styles: antique bronze, antique nickel, and gold. The first two can be purchased while supplies last. The coins are minted in very limited quantities, with 200 or less made every year. The shiny gold-plated version is the most limited item minted each year (with only nine available to be found!), and if you want to add one to your collection, you'll need to wait for riddles to be released at noon each Saturday and Sunday in October via her Instagram page. Then, whoever decodes the riddle the fastest and races to the correct location to find it, gets to keep it!

Georgia's annual gold coin hunt in Salem is sponsored by the Peabody Essex Museum.
